What would make a person choose to run on a dirt trail rather than on a path or sidewalk?  After all, trails are uneven, sometimes too hilly, are full of dust, rocks, cinders and other things that work their way into your shoes, and trail running requires you to remain constantly alert for natural dangers.  Why do it?   You might try it and hate it.  Then again, you might get so hooked on it that street running is something you do only when the trails are closed.

Trail running is a remarkable way to explore the many miles of urban and wilderness trails the back country has to offer. You'll be continually amazed at the scenery at each twist and turn and hilltop, and marvel at each wildlife sighting. If you stay alert, any danger out there is quite manageable.  If you become addicted to OC's trails, you'll never be the same street runner again.
